This is the 5th year in a row I have had the pleasure to photograph Phoebe and her family. When I first met her, all I could think of was Tinkerbelle. She flitted and floated and so gracefully ran around the park. She was wearing a beautiful red velvet dress and it had snowed, so the session made for some stunning photos. Each and every year since then, I have loved seeing Tinkerbelle and how she has grown. On top of it all, she always has THE best outfits. She’s a natural!!!

When Jen contacted me about documenting her birth story, I couldn’t have been happier. I love pregnancy and birth and newborns, and I have always wanted the opportunity to photograph a birth. I met with Jen and Jeremy and discussed her birth plan and what they would like me to capture. She had planned on a home birth with a birth pool and her husband and daughter by her side. Her due date was October 14th, so I put that on my calendar and assumed it would be weeks before I heard from her. However, one Thursday morning just a couple of weeks later, I got the text that she thought her water had broken. I waited anxiously for confirmation, and by early afternoon I was heading to the hospital. She was only 36 1/2 weeks, so her plans for a home birth went out the window, but I don’t think that really mattered at the time. When I got there, she was only 2cm, but I could see her labor pick up quickly, and at 4:51pm on September 19th, I witnessed the beautiful entrance into this world of their baby daughter Felicity. Despite her early debut, Felicity weighed in at a healthy 5lbs 12oz. Congratulations to Jennifer and Jeremy, and thank you for letting me a part of such a beautiful moment!

Nick and I strolled through downtown New Haven on a beautiful fall evening to take some portraits for his high school yearbook, and to document this time in his life as he prepares to finish his last year in high school. We talked about college and career paths and interests and hobbies. He is so easy to talk to, and it is a pleasure to have his company. Enjoy your senior year Nick!
